Legenda Maior – Artistic Training Scholarship Program

Legenda Maior is an artistic training initiative in fresco painting sponsored by the Columbus Citizens Foundation and the Ladies Auxiliary. Scheduled to commence on July 7, the program will run from July 8 through July 17, with July 18 reserved if needed, excluding July 12 and 16. Daily sessions will be held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, inclusive of a lunch break. Instruction will be led by Claudia Nodari and her team and will integrate practical and theoretical study in traditional Italian fresco techniques, with particular emphasis on Giotto and the narratives of St. Francis in recognition of the 2026 commemoration of the 800th anniversary of his passing. The program is intended to advance artistic development, deepen engagement with Italian cultural heritage, and generate a body of work that may support future Foundation programming and fundraising initiatives.

The final work, assembled by the visiting artist and her assistants, will be auctioned at the Columbus Gala. Proceeds from the auction will help offset additional program expenses while also establishing a fund to support future literary and cultural initiatives.
